Children have become a huge target in the identity theft market. Since most children do not use or check their credit until their late teens a thief can easily steal their information, rack up fraudulent charges, and have years to disappear. As a parent you do what it takes to protect your children, but how often during their childhood years do you give out their social security number? School records, sporting events, permission slips, doctor’s offices, you even use them for your tax records. Although you think these are safe sources there have been many breaches within these organizations, lost and stolen records and companies that simply go out of business and throw personal records in a nearby dumpster.
